Suislaw bar setback

So, Glen and Randy are having a tough time today.

Seas are rougher than predicted.  They were supposed to be 3 to 5 ft swells, maybe capping at 7, but in reality they're facing 7 to 9 foot swells on the trip down from Newport to Florence.

After 6 tiring hours, they get to the Siuslaw bar at just the time they're supposed to (about 15 minutes before slack water high tide), but the bar is too rough.  They can't get in.

Faced with the decision -- go further south to Umpqua or back north to Newport.  Newport's longer, but the Umpqua bar is rough, too, according to that Coast Guard station.  They'd have to sit outside for at least two hours in addition to the three hour transit time, waiting for slack water that *might* be good enough to cross.

So, they've decided to head back to Newport.  It'll be a rough, tiring 7 hour + trip back up.  In the meantime, I'm getting more gray hairs...
